[at the Central Perk: everyone is there: Monica, Chandler (playing with Emma) and Rachel on the couch, Ross in the armchair and Joey and Phoebe on the chairs]
Monica: look how cute she is! These tiny fingers!
Chandler: and those feet! (plays with them, Rachel looks at him madly, so he stops) It’s OK, they won’t brake or somethin’!
[Phoebe looks at Chandler and Monica playing with Emma]
monica: what?
Phoebe: nothing. I’m just imagining what it would be like when you guys had emma, not those (points at rachel and ross)
Joey: that would be fun!
Monica and chandler: nah… (look at each other) well…
Ross: yeah, and when rachel and I were still together! (rachel loos at him) no, seriously! What if we were still… I don’t know, married and those guys would have emma?
Phoebe: yeah, and I were the queen of the world! I would so enjoy that!
[everybody looks at her]
ross: seriously, I wasn’t kidding! I mean, would we still hang out like that?
Everyone: (thinking) I don’t know…

[at Monica and chandler’s: Moncia comes with a pregnancy test out of the bathroom, chandler watches TV]
Monica: honey, can I talk to you for a sec?
Chandler: later OK? I’m watching TV! Look, there are babies! I wanna see that! I like that!
Monica: wouldn’t you like it better if we had what in life?
Chandler: (looks at her) what do you mean? (sees the pregnancy test) are you…
[monica nods]
chandler: what? You’re pregnant?
Monica: yes, I know it since a week.
Chandler: what? Why didn’t you tell me?
Monica: because I wasn’t sure and if I weren’t pregnant, you would be disappointed, so I waited until I’m 100 % sure
Chandler: and you are 100 % sure?
Monica: yes. We’re gonna have a baby!
Chandler: oh my god! I can not believe that! We’re gonna have a baby! (they hug)
Monica: I know
Chandler: this is so amazing!
Monica: yes, it is… (they kiss)
[at the central perk: rachel and phoebe are sitting on the couch, ross comes in]
phoebe: hey ross!
Ross: hey pheebs!
Rachel: hey sweetie!
Ross: hi honey (gives her a kiss) how are ya?
Phoebe: I’m ok…
Ross: I meant rachel, but ok pheebs, how are you?
Phoebe: I just told you that I’m ok!
Ross: yeah right. (looks at rachel)
Rachel: what?
Ross: anything new?
Rachel: no. nothing new. And you?
Ross: you won’t believe that, but Bob, this guy at work, a little annoying though—
Phoebe: really? Palaeontologist and annoying? How can that be?
Ross: (looks at her) … anyway, he broke an arm of the homo ere –
Rachel: sweetie, I just wanted to be polite, OK?
Ross: oh…
Phoebe: so, I’m gonna take off, I have a client in half an hour (stands up)
Ross: but why are you going now when he’s coming in half an hour?
Phoebe: because I don’t wanna be here anymore!
[chandler and Monica come in]
chandler: hey, pheebs, where are ya going?
Phoebe: I have a client
Ross: in half an hour!
Monica: please, wait a sec phoebe, we have big news!
Ross: at least someone…
Chandler: we’re gonna have a baby!
Rachel: what?
Monica: yeah, I’m pregnant
Ross: are you sure?
Monica: yes
Phoebe: really? ‘cause when I were pregnant with the triplets, I took the test like three times before I was sure
Monica: I know it since a week
Phoebe: yeah, then you’re pregnant
Ross: oh my god! I cannot believe that! I’m gonna be an uncle!
Rachel: and I ‘m gonna be an aunt!
Phoebe: me too!
Rachel: yeah, but not like me!
Phoebe: so, and why not?
Rachel: because I’m monica’s sister- in- law, I’m the real aunt!
Chandler: does this matter right now? We’re gonna have a baby!
Rachel: yeah, right! Come on! (they all hug)
[joey comes in]
joey: what are you guys hugging about?
Ross: I’m gonna be an uncle!
Joey: (to Rachel) you’re pregnant?
[everybody looks at him]
joey: (thinks, then realises and point at monica and chandler) you? You? You? Pregnant? you?
Monica: yes, still…
Joey: this I huge! This is amazing! (they all hug again)
[at monica and chandler’s: monica is lying o the couch, chandler is in the armchair]
chandler: what about samatha?
Monica: honey, don’t get mad, but I kinda have names already. I mean, I’m in the ninth month, the baby can come any minute!
Chandler: so, what were you thinking about?
Monica: ok, if it’s a boy, daniel. And if it’s a girl, emma.
Chandler: yeah, I like ‘em.
Monica: great. (want to stand up)
Chandler: no, no, no, honey, what are you doing? The doctor said you can’t get up! You’ve already had contractions, you have to lie!
Monica: I have to pee! The baby is squeezing my bladder like a lemon! (goes into the bathroom)
Chandler: ok, but if you need help, just yell!
Monica: it’s ok! I can pee without the baby just plopping out! (pause, then she sreams) ahhhh!
Chandler: (runs into the bathroom) what?
Monica: maybe I can’t pee without the baby plopping out…
Chandler: what??
Monica: call the ambulance, my water broke!
Chandler: what? Now? Are you sure you didn’t pee on yourself?
Monica: yes! Call! Now!!!!!
[chandler runs to the phone]
chandler: (to the phone) hello? Yeah, I’M having a baby, please come quick! (pause) … yes… yes… yes, my water broke!… her .. her water broke…
[at the central perk: rachel, joey, phoebe and ross are there]
joey: wow, I can’t believe that monica and chandler are really having a baby!
Rachel: well, you only had nine months to think about that, but better late than never, huh Joey! (claps him on the shoulder)
Joey: no, seriously! I mean she’s in the ninth month, the baby can come any minute now!
Phoebe: yeah, you’re right. (pause, then to rachel and rachel) what about you guys?
Ross: what? What, “what about you guys”?
Phoebe: Do you have any family plans?
Rachel: no
Ross: yes.
[they look at each other because they said the total opposite at the same time]
rachel: what? We have plans for a family? That is nice that you told me that! What did I say?
Joey: ohh, I have to go!
Phoebe: why?
Joey: …. Eat a sandwich? (leaves)
Ross: don’ you remember the conversation we had last night?
Rachel: you mean when I said that I’m happy for monica and chandler? And you think “oh ross, I wanna have five kids, the best all at the same time!”
Phoebe: oh no, don’t do that! Three kids at a time is already very hard, I don’t even wnt to think about five…
Ross: look honey. You know that… in things like that… I… eh… I just think about stuff like that much….
Rachel: yeah right… when we started dating, you already talked about having kids…
Ross: I don’t wanna put you under pressure or something, but don’t you think we would be ready for that now?
Rachel: I don’t know… in stuff like that I’m pretty much like chandler…
[chandler comes running in]
chandler: hey guys, I’m gonna have baby!
Phoebe: we know!
Chandler: no! now! My water broke! (everybody looks at him) monica’s water broke…
Ross: what? Now?
Chandler: yes, she’s on the way to the hospital…
Rachel: and you’re not with her?
Chandler: no, she’s already in labour and she said that she hates me, so I kinda preferred to take a cap…
Phoebe: but that’s normal! I said stuff like that too!
Chandler: (shows her his arm, which is red and blue and a bit bloody) did you do that?
Phoebe: no. but monica is really strong! How did she do that?
Chandler: with a fork… but, we have to go! I wanna see the birth!
Ross: yes, lets go!
[they stand up, but chandler makes a sign that they have to stay]
rachel: what?
Chandler: (jumps around) I’m gonna be a daddy!
[they go outside]
chandler: quick! And someone has to call joey!
Phoebe: JOEY!
Chandler: I meant call him! On the phone! Joey probably won’t hear you!
[joey comes with a sandwich]
joey: hey
phoebe: yeah, he won’t hear me…
rachel: (looks for a cab) taxi! Taxi!
[a taxi stops and chandler, ross and rachel go in, phoebe and joey have wait for another one]
[in the cab]
chandler: to the kennedy hospital please! And quick, I’m having a baby
[everyone looks at him]
chandler: just go! C’mon!
[the taxi leaves]
[on the street]
joey: where are they going?
Phoebe: to the hospital! Monica’s having the baby!
Joey: what now? I wanna eat my sandwich!
Phoebe: you can eat it on the way! (calls for a cab) taxi!
[a taxi stops, they go in]
phoebe: to the jeremias hospital please!
[in the taxi with chandler, rachel and ross]
rachel: so, what were you thinking how many babies we’ll have?
Ross: I don’t know. I didn’t think about the number!
[rachel and chandler look at him]
ross: three…
rachel: ho god! I can not believe that! When were you going to tell me that?
Ross: today, at dinner
Rachel: what? What dinner?
Ross: the one I was gonna take you tonight
Rachel: you wanted to take me to dinner? That’s so sweet!
Ross: yeah, but now monica is havin’ the baby!
Rachel: so? We can do it tomorrow!
Ross: but you know it now! It was a surprise! Only chandler knew!
Chandler: and moncia. I guess phoebe and joey too…
Rachel: me too
[chandler nods, ross looks at him madly]

joey: ok, I bet ten bucks if it’s a girl!
Phoebe: fine. I say it is a girl!
Joey: you can’t say it’s a girl!

Cap driver: that’s right
Phoebe: oh, screw you, you… cap driver! But joey, we both can say it’s a girl!
Joey: and who gets the money?

Phoebe: then lets make some! I bet that the baby is in… 33 hours and a half out!
Joey: but we just had another bet!. I don’t wanna loose twenty bucks!

[in chandler, rachel and ross’s cap]
ross: why did you tell her?
Chandler: because… I’m chandler! I cant keep secrets for me, you know that!

Ross: (thinks) yeah, you’re right.
Rachel: hey, chandler, do you have a name yet?
Chandler: yeah, if it’s a boy, daniel and if it’s a girl, emma
Ross: I knew it!
Chandler: what?
Ross: the names. Monica has them since she’s fourteen! Phoebe owes me twenty bucks!
[cut to phoebe and joey]
joey: do they have a name yet?
Phoebe: I don’t know… but ross guesses emma and daniel, but they won’t tell us, they probably don’ have names yet…
Joey: do they know the sex?
Phoebe: no! they didn’t want to know. But that’s what we re talking about the last nine month! Don’t you listen?
Joey: no. you?
Phoebe: sometimes so, sometimes so…
[the taxi stops]
cap driver: 20 dollars please
joey: half half?
Phoebe: I don’t have money with me bt I can give you the rest at home.
Joey: OK. Or we just can calculate it with the bets later…

[ at the hospital: chandler, rachel and ross come running in, they go directly to the reception]
chandler: hello, my wife is having a baby, is she here? Where is she?
Receptionist: first of all, calm down, ok? What is the name o –
Chandler: chandler bing!
Receptionist: … of you wife.
Chandler: oh, Monica Bing. She’s in labour, where is the delivery room?
Receptionist: ( looks at the computer) mr. Bing…
Chandler: yes?
Receptionist: you wife already has the baby, she’s in room 34.
chandler: what?
Receptionist: yes, you’re baby is already born.
Chandler: oh my god! I cannot believe I’ve missed it!
Rachel: I’m so sorry for you! (to the receptionist) is it really born yet?
Receptionist: I’m afraid so…
Ross: ok, come on, lets go and see after monica and you baby.
Chandler: I’m sorry you guys, but I kinda want to be alone with them first
Rachel: sure! We’ll come later
Chandler: thanks. (goes away)
Ross: wow, that’s hard!
Rachel: yes. He couldn’t be with Monica when the baby born
Ross: wanna get a coffee?
Rachel: yeah. (they go top the coffee machine] what do you think is it? A boy or a girl?
Ross: I don’t know, maybe a girl… but maybe a boy to.. or both? Who knows?
Rachel: what were you thinking we’ll have first?
Ross: I don’t know…
Rachel: ross, we had that yet so just say it!

[ phoebe and joey: they are running into the hospital, directly to the reception]
joey: hello. We’re looking for a friend, Monica Bing, she’s having a baby.
Receptionist 2: I’m sorry, but nobody came in here who was in labour.
Joey: perhaps she wasn’t in labour yet… phoebe, what did chandler say?
Phoebe: I don’t know! You know that I don’t listen when they talk! But he showed me his arm though, it was all red and bloody and just.. iouu…
Joey: yeah, then she was in labour yet…
Phoebe: probably. (to the receptionist) can you check anyway please? Perhaps she’s already in here with the baby
Receptionist 2: (checks the computer) no I’m sorry, here is no Monica Bing. You’re probably in the wrong hospital….
Joey: yeah, we really have to listen when they talk…
[at the hospital: chandler knocks at the door of the room 34]
monica: yes
chandler: (goes in) hey!
Monica: hi honey! Where have you been?
Chandler: I took a cab. Where is it?
Monica: over there. She’s sleeping
Chandler: we have a girl? (goes to the basket)

Chandler: she’s so cute! (goes to Monica) how are you (sits down on the bed and kisses her at the forehead)

Chandler: where did she born? Here?
Monica: no, in the ambulance. She couldn’t wait…
Chandler: I cannot believe I’ve missed it!
Monica: kinda good that you didn’t see it.

Monica: well, ale the blood, me screaming, a baby coming out of me, no that nice…
Chandler: but I wanted to be there for you!

Monica: it could’ve been worse actually. She was out in like 10 minutes… where are the other guys?
Chandler: I told them to wait because I wanted to have time with you alone first… and emma.

[in the lobby: ross and rachel are drinking a coffee]
rachel: where are phoebe and joey? They were behind us in the cab! They should be here by now!
Ross: I don’t know
Rachel: lets call them! (takes her cell phone)
Ross: no cell phones in here! (points at a sign)
Rachel: no cell phones in here… blablabla… (puts it away)
Ross: they’ll come!
Rachel: but they were directly behind us! I bet they’re in the wrong hospital!
Ross: well, we didn’t tell them where we were going…
Rachel: but monica and chandler said that they wanted it to be born here

Phoebe: we’re at the jeremias hospital! Where are you?
Rachel: oh phoebe! We’re in the kennedy!

Rachel: because we talked about that all the time!

Rachel: well, the baby is born yet, we’ve missed it.

[at the hospital, in Monica’s room: chandler sits with Monica on the bed, he has emma in his arms]

Monica: not that bad… I imagined it worse.

[at the cab: phoebe and joey are driving to the hospital]
phoebe: so, let me get this straight: you say it’s a girl, she was born in the hospital and her name is not emma. And you really bet 50 dollars?

Phoebe: ok, I say it’s a boy, he born in the ambulance and his name is probably not emma. And you really want to bet 50 dollars??

[emma begins to cry]
chandler: look! She’s crying!
Monica: no, she’s probably just hungry! Give her to me.
[chandler gives Emma to Monica and she begins to breastfeed her]
ross: oh god… (looks away)
monica: what? When ben born, you told chandler and joey that it is normal!
Ross: yeah, but you’re my sister!
[phoebe and joey come in]
phoebe: hey!
Joey: hey! Where is it? (sees emma, smiles, sees then what she’s doing) oh no! (looks away)
Monica: come on you guys! You have to deal with that now! Or do you want to leave the room every time she gets her milk?

Chandler: well, first of all, no “bad words” in front of emma, second of all, just be normal when monica breastfeeds her –
Ross: but she’s my sister! (looks still away)

Joey: so pheebs, how much do I owe you?
Phoebe: ok, lets see. You said it’s a girl. Right. And you said she born in the hosptial. (to monica) right or wrong?
Monica: wrong. She born in the ambulance. It only took ten minutes
Phoebe: o cr—(chandler looks at her madly) that’s too bad!
Chandler: there you go pheebs!
Phoebe: ok, I said it’s a boy, which is probably wrong and I said her name is not emma, wrong too.
Joey: seems like Joey wins!
Phoebe: yeah, but you were wrong too! So how much to I owe you?
Joey: (counts) …the taxi… (counts again) I have no idea. Forget it?
Phoebe: yeha.
Monica: hey ross, could you call mum and dad for me?
Ross: why don’t you do it?
Monica: I’m kinda busy here! A baby is sucking on my nippel!
Ross: ok… (goes out)
Joey: I wanna have candies! Pheebs, you buy some for me?
Phoebe: no!
Joey: you can have some too!
Phoebe: ok, but I wont go alone! You have to come woith me!

Joey: ok ok, come on. (they leave)
Chandler: so ,rach, did ross talk about babies again?
Rachel: o yes! He want to have a girl first, cause he has ben yet
Monica: what about you?
Rachel: I don’t know… I think I’m just not ready
Monica: but you love him!
Rachel: sure I do! If I dindt love him, I wouldn’t have married him!
Chandler: you married hammered in vegas!
Rachel: ok, if I didn’t love him, I would’ve get the divorce that time. But I did not, because I love him!

[at the lobby: joey and phoebe are at the candy machine, joey puts a quarter in it]

[Joey presses the bottom for rolos]
phoebe: hey! I said knick knacks!
Joey: I don’t like ‘em.
Phoebe;: so why did you ask?
Joey: to be polite!
Phoebe: Yeah, but you aren’t! you were polite if you bought the stuff I want!
Joey: yeah, I’m not polite! (hits the machine) but it won’t come out anyway!
Phoebe;: yeah, that’s just fair!
Joey: wait, ok…. (goes a few steps backward and runs up against the machine)
Phoebe; no! when you do that again your shoulder’s broken and the machine too!
Joey: o I have another idea! (goes with the arm into the machine) damn it, my arms are too short! But, hey, what’s that? I found something!
[the handyman come]
handyman: hey, what are you doing there?
Joey: I put a quarter in this damn machine but nothing came out! And now I’m trying to take me my stuff!
Handyman: wait, put your arm out of the machine, I’ll give you the money back.
Joey: ok (tries to put his arm out of the machine) ok… (tries it again) fine.. (tries it again)
Phoebe: what?
Joey: it won’t come out!
[at the baby delivery station: ross looks through the glass to the babies]
[rachel comes, sees ross watching at the babies, want to go to him, stops, thinks, goes away]
[at the candy machine: joey is still in it, phoebe and the handyman try to pull him out of it.]
[chandler comes]
chandler: I didn’t know that you can buy joeys here!
Joey: very funny! I’m stucking in the damn machine!
Chandler: how?
Joey: I tried to put my arm in it…
Chandler: why?
Joey: I put a quarter in it and pressed the bottom for rolos but they didn’t come out!
Chandler: (looks at the machine) I know why they didn’t come out
Joey: why??
Chandler: because they are out of rolos! And you can, by the way, still buy somhting for your quarter!
Phoebe: what??
Joey: yeah, what?? I still have my quarter!
Chandler: yep, what do you want?
Joey: rolos
Chandler: what did I just say joe?
Joey: yeah right… I’ll take the knick knacks
Phoebe: yay!
[chandler preses the bottom for the knick knacks, they fall down and phoebe takes them]
joey: hey, you’ll eat them all on you own! Give ‘em to me!
Phoebe: no, I won’t! (begins to eat them)
Joey: hey phoebe! You said you won’t eat them all on you own!
Phoebe: yes, I won’t! (puts him a knick knack in his mouth) there you go. Bye (goes away)
Joey: no, phoebe stay (tries to follow her)
Phoebe: no no, you stay at you machine! Bye bye! (goes, eating the knick knacks, away]
[in monica’s room.: emma just woke up, monica is taking her out of the basket]
[ross enters]
ross: hey. How you feeling?
Monica: good. I’m waiting for chandler, he just wanted to buy something to drink… can you watch emma, I wanna see where he is.
Ross: yeah sure.
Monica: thanks: (gives him emma, leaves)
[ross sits down with emma I his arms, looks t her]
ross: hey emma. It’s me, your uncle ross. I’m also your godfather. Ehm…, joey will probably tell you the same thing, but I’m your real godfather. You daddy and me just told him that he’d be, but he’s not. You know, he’s a bit… weird… but whatever… ehm… you have a cousin, ben. I hope you’ll get along…
[rachel comes in, ross doesn’t notice her, he still looks at emma]
rachel: yes.
[ross turns around]
ross: what?
Rachel: yes, I want to have a baby with you.
Ross: what? Really? Are you sure?
Rachel: yes. I swa you, looking at the babuiey, now I see you her, with emma… and I see that you really wanna have one.
Ross: yeah that’s right, bit I thought you don’t want to have one… are you really sure?
Rachel: yes. I want to have a baby too.
[rachel sits down next to him, ross gives her emma]
ross: here to practise.
Rachel: I know how to handle babies ross!
[emma begins to cry, rachel gives quickly her back to ross, he grins and kisses her]
[at the candy machine: joey’s arm is still stucking in it, chandler and the handyman are trying to pull him out]
[monica comes]
monica: what are you doing??
Chandler: joey is in the machine and he can’t get out.
Joey: since half an hour! I’m hungry!
Monica: (to the handyman) why don’t you just open the door?
Handyman: that would be an idea…
[the handyman opens the door, you see joey’s hand with a bag at the other side]
chandler: joey, what is that?
Joey: I don’t know. Some candies, I found ‘em here!
Chandler: are you holding these since you are in the machine?
Joey: yeah, why?
Monica: joey, this is why you couldn’t get out!
Joey: no! that’s not why I couldn’t get out! My hand is too big!
Chandler: but when your hand were to big, you couldn’t even get in! or does you hand grow from time to time??
Moncia: give me bag!
[joey gives moncia the bag, tries to put his arm out of the machine and it works]
joey: yeah, perhaps I couldn’t get out because of the bag… but I have to go, I wanna have my knick knacks! (runs away)
